Measuring for a new faucet, sink or pot filler
Most installation problems come from one missed measurement. Check these before ordering, and include them in your quote request so we can confirm the fit.

For a faucet
- Number of holes and the spacing between them (for example 8 in centers for a bridge faucet).
- Deck thickness: most faucets fit counters up to about 1-1/2 to 2 in thick. Thick stone may need longer shanks.
- Clearance above the counter to any shelf, window sill or cabinet.
- Supply lines: 3/8 in compression is common under the sink. Check your shut-off valves.
For a sink
- Cabinet width inside and out, and whether it's an apron-front base.
- Counter material: undermount sinks need stone, quartz or solid surface.
- Drain position and the space needed for a disposal.
For a pot filler
- A pot filler needs a cold-water line in the wall behind the range. It's best roughed in during construction or a remodel.
- It's usually mounted a little above the cooktop so the tallest pot fits under it. Check the maker's suggested height for your range.
- The arm should reach the front and back burners when extended, and fold flat when closed.
What to send with a quote request
- Photos of the sink, counter and cabinet.
- The measurements above.
- The finish you want and any other pieces to match.
